Explants of rose were cultured in vitro for multiple shoot development and subsequent rooting. Multiplication of shoots was carried out only from shoot apices and nodal segments with axillary buds in MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/1 BAP, 1.0 mg/1 BAP + 1.0 mg/1 Kn and 2.0 mg/1 BAP + 0.5 mg/1 2,4-D. The highest number of multiple shoots (12-15) appeared in presence of BAP at 2.0 mg/1 within eight to ten weeks. Axillary shooting was induced in MS + 2.0 mg/1 BAP + 0.5 mg/1 2,4-D. Individual regeneration shoots were rooted well in half strength MS + 1.0 mg/1 IAA and half strength MS + 0.1 mg/1 IBA + 0.1 IAA + 0.1 mg/1 NAA.
