Multiple shoots were obtained from nodal segments of young and mature tree of Gliricidea sepium on MS medium (Murashige and Skoog 1962) supplemented with 2, 4-D (0.5 to 2 mg/1) and Kn (0.5 to 1 mg/1). Rooting was achieved on transfer of the excised shoots to MS in combination with 2, 4-D (0.5 mg/1) and Kn (0.1 mg/1). At higher concentration of Kn and 2, 4-D callus tissues were unable to differentiate. The plantlets, which originated after 15 days were assicoated with roots. Histological analysis of organogenetic development has been investigated.
