Growth of axillary buds and shoot formation in Ficus religiosa was achieved on MS medium containing BA (1.0 mg/1). Roots were induced in in vitro regenerated shoots on half MS supplemented with 0.5 mg/1 IBA. Plant regeneration from axillary buds was also obtained on MS medium fortified with 0.5 BA + 0.2 Kn + 0.1 CP + 0.1 B (mg/1). The experimental findings reported here present a method of propagation of Ficus religiosa through axillary bud culture.
