Multiple axillary shoots were produced on explants of Pistacia vera cv. mateur cultured on modified MS medium (1/7 mM NH4+ / NO3- ) combination supplemented with BAP and NAA. The multiplication rate in decapitated whole shoots, when placed on the same medium was higher compared to apical and axillary bud explants. Shoots were successfully rooted on a half strength basal medium containing IBA.
