Cotyledon explants of Momordica charantia produced callus and sudsequently adventitious shoots on MS medium containing high concentration of an auxin along with a low one of a cytokinin. NAA-BA combination was suitable for regeneration and growth of shoots. Cotyledon explants proximal to the embryonic axis had the highest regeneration potential. Regenerated shoots elongated on MS medium with 0.5 mg/1 each of kinetin and GA3. Rooting was induced when shoots were transferred to 0.1 mg/1 NAA-supplemented half-strength MS medium.
