Control of Shoot-tip Necrosis during in vitro Establishment of Shoots of Pistachio

Abastract

The most satisfactory protocol for in vitro establishment of shoots of Pistacia vera was obtained in solidified MS medium supplemented with 5mM NH4NO3 plus 0.4 mg 1-1 thiamine-HCL, 0.4 1-1 pyridoxine-HC1, 100 mg1-1 myoinositol, 30g 1-1 sucrose, 10-6M BAP combined with 5.1-8 M NAA. In this culture medium, shoots were more vigorous free from shoot-tip necrosis as observed in previously recommended 1/2 MS medium.
