Cotyledons from seeds of mature but green unripe fruits of Aegle marmelos were used for inducing callus. Optimum callus formation was observed on MS medium supplemented with 2 mg/1 2,4-D and 1 mg/1 benzyladenine (BA). Maximum regeneration occurred upon transferring calli to the medium containing 1 mg/1 BA and 0.1 mg/1 IAA. Regeneration shoots rooted readily (70%) on solidified MS medium containing 30 mg/1 IBA.
