A reliable rapid micropropagation method has been establishment for pineapple, Ananas comosus (L.) Merr. Cv. Gaint Kew and Khulna local based on in vitro shoot elongation and proliferation from the explants of field-grown plants. Crown tip explants were prepared from the mature fruits and cultured on MS medium. Multiple shoots were obtained from the crown tips and grown on MS medium supplemented with different combinations and concentrations of BA, Kn, NAA and IBA. The maximum number of multiple axillary shoot proliferated on MS basal medium containing 1.0 mg/1 BA and 0.1 NAA. The in vitro proliferated shoots produced roots with maximum frequency in MS medium supplemented with 0.2 mg/1 IBA and 0.2 mg/1 NAA. The regenerated plantlets were successfully established in plastic pots containing either garden soil, sand and compost (2: 1: 1) or coco-peat with 70 and 100% success, respectively.
