Among different explants, namely, shoot tip, cotyledonary node, cotyledon segment and hypocotyl of Sesbania grandiflora L. (a fast growing plant) shoot tip was found to be best for multiple shoot regeneration in MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/1 BAP + 0.5 mg/1 Kn. The regenerated multiple shoots were devoid of any root. Roots were induced when the isolated individual shoot was cultured on half the strength of MS medium containing 0.2 mg/1 IBA. The plantlets from the test tubes were transferred and established in the soil.
