Studies on Callus Induction and Plant Regeneration in Tomato

Abastract
Good callus was obtained from leaf explants of two E-6 and S-1 strains of tomato(Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/1 IAA and 2.0 mg/1 kinetin. For regeneration of plants calli were transferred onto MS medium supplemented with 4.0 mg/1 IAA and 4.0 mg/1 kinetin. Both size of fruits and yield/plant in the R1 population of the above two varieties were smaller than the control.
