Apical meristems of five standard sweet potato cultivars namely, Daulatpuri, Tripti, Kamalasundari, BARI SP-4 and BARI SP-5 were cultured on MS medium supplemented with thiamine HCL 0.1 mg/1, glycine 0.5 mg/1, pyridoxine 0.5 mg/1 and nicotinic acid 2.0 mg/1 revealed that the highest 70% calli were developed for Tripti. Of them, 31% were regenerated into plantlets. Maximum size of callus was 17 mm in diameter for Daulatpuri which was equivalent to 700 mg at 90 days. The plantlet showed very slow rate of growth having maximum 40 mm height with leaves at 90 days for Daulatpuri and minimum 25 mm for BARI SP-4 and BARI SP-5 and two leaves in Kamalasundari.
