Best multiple shoot regeneration was obtained from shoot tip explants of ginger on MS medium supplemented with either 1.0 mg/1 or 3.0 mg/1 BAP. In this combination, 15-20 initial shoot buds were developed within two-three weeks. The initiated shoot buds increased two to threefolds upon subculture on the same medium. Root induction was found best on the half-strength of MS medium containing 0.2 mg/1 IBA. In vitro grown plantlets were successfully established under field condition.
