In vitro Rapid Shoot Multiplication of Dendrobium cv. Sonia

Abastract

An efficient protocol for in vitro rapid shoot multiplication of Dendrobium cv. Sonia has been developed using offshoot segments as explant on MS basal medium supplemented with a combination of NAA (1.0-3.0 ?M/1) and BAP (1.0-5.0 ?M/1). Protocorms developed on this medium were kept for shoot proliferation and elongation on a medium containing 2.0 ?M/1, NAA and 6.0 ?M/1 BAP. Auxin and cytokinin together showed a synergistic effect on shoot development.
