Micropropagation of neem tree (Azadirachta indica) was performed through forced axillary branching on MS medium supplemented with benzyladenine (BA) and kinetin. Highest frequency of shoot formation and maximum number of shoots per explants were obtained on MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/1 each of BA and kinetin. Subculturing of regenerated shoots to a medium containing lower concentration of BA (0.1 mg/1) before rooting markedly stimulated shoot elongation. Shoots could be rooted by treating them with indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) or a-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) in half-strength salts of MS basal medium. Regeneration plantlets were successfully established in soil.
