For in vitro multiple shoot regeneration, shoot tips and nodal segments of five-year-old tree of Emblica officinalis were used as explants. Multiple shoot induction was found best in B5 medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/1 BAP and 0.25 mg/1 NAA. Addition of coconut milk (CM) in the medium enhanced the number of shoots per culture. Excised shoots rooted when they were transferred to half-strength of MS medium containing 0.5 mg/1 each of NAA, IAA and IBA. The regenerated plantlets were successfully acclimatized and established in soil. About 80% of plantlets survived under ex vitro conditions.
