Internode segments from mature plants of Adhatoda vasica were used as explants to initiate culture. The cultured explants produced callus from their cut ends and subsequently adventitious shoots on MS medium supplemented with 0.5-1.0 mg/1 BA plus 0.1-0.5 mg/1 NAA or IBA. Maximum frequency of cultures produced shoots and the highest number of shoots per explants were observed when MS medium was fortified with 1.0 mg/1 BA with 0.1 mg/1 NAA. In vitro grown shoots were rooted on half strength MS medium either with 0.1-0.5 mg/1 IBA, NAA, IAA or without any auxin. Regeneration were transferred to soil and successfully established under ex vitro environment.
